Winterization is a specialized process that requires partial disassembly of key equipment components to ensure water is removed from areas where it can become trapped and freeze. Because these components are disconnected during winterization, the spa must be professionally recommissioned before it can be safely operated again.

As equipment unions, seals, and plumbing fittings are intentionally loosened and disconnected during the winterization process, the spa must not be refilled or operated without professional startup service. All fittings, unions, pumps, and heaters must be properly reconnected, inspected, and tested to ensure safe operation and prevent water leaks or equipment damage.

Spring Startup Requirement

A Professional Spa Startup Service is required before the spa can be used again. During startup, technicians will:

• Reconnect all pumps, heater unions, and plumbing fittings
• Reinstall filters
• Fill and test the spa
• Inspect for leaks and proper equipment operation
• Verify heater and circulation performance
• Balance water chemistry and prepare the spa for use

Seal, Gasket, and Component Considerations

When a hot tub remains empty for an extended period, rubber components such as:

• Pump seals

• Gaskets
• Union seals
• Mechanical shaft seals

may dry out, shrink, crack, or deteriorate. In some cases, leaks may develop when the spa is restarted.
